Belgium has summoned the Israeli ambassador to condemn the bombing of the country’s development agency in Gaza, the Belgian foreign ministry has said.

The Israeli assault has taken place after the Belgian Government announced not to suspend funding for the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) on Wednesday.

Belgium has decided to wait for the results of UN investigations into the possible links between some UNRWA staff and Hamas, according to Belga News Agency.

“Belgium will put the issue of compensation for the damaged infrastructure of projects financed by the EU and its Member States back on the agenda of a subsequent European consultation,” it also warned.

Here’s an actual source that isn’t a Turkish propaganda network: Reuters

Note how a real news agency states facts instead of injecting an elaborate “revenge for funding the UNRWA” narrative, mentions that the date and reason for the bombing is unknown, and notes zero expected casualties.

The timing of Belgium refusing to stop UNRWA aid seems extremely relevant as israel bombed the Belgian building in Gaza right afterwards.

This type of revenge bombing for petty reasons is a staple of the spiteful mentality that israel abides by.

They’re right wing, but the factual score is Mixed, not Low. The rule states:

Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.

Thus this post is absolutely within the rules.

If you want to challenge the post, you should do so on specific merits, not by trying to bend the rules to suit your narrative.

Thanks for the better article. Still wild how little restraint Israel is showing, even if this wasn’t retribution. Though don’t think they are above such things.

The problem with this particular war is that Hamas purposefully and in mass uses civilian shield. They do not care that civilians will die, in fact it is absolutely obvious and predicted and calculated outcome of their incursion into Israel. The only way for Israel not to kill civilians was not to react at all, which I think was not an option for them. Any attempt to avoid killing Hamas because of the potentially greater civilian casualties leads only to Hamas using civilians even more and in greater number.

They did pretty good at sending in a strike team to the hospital to kill those 3 guys.

Almost like they did it just to show that they could and chose not to before.

The human shield argument is bullshit when Israel is killing 80-90% civilians. Bombing hospitals , schools and civilian building under the claim that Hamas is there is just stupid . And what about people waving a white flag all by themselves? Do they think Hamas is hiding behind them . This is just a genocide.

And what about people waving a white flag all by themselves?

What about Israeli hostages topless waving a white flag, only to be shot indiscriminately by IDF?

Like seriously, the Israeli hostages got naked and wrote things on their body because they knew how murderous the IDF was and wanted to take every precaution not to get executed on sight and they still got executed on sight.

In Counter-Strike, you can still win the match even if you kill all the hostages.

Hey as a US mainstream news anchor that sounds like good enough justification for me, I might use that! My boss said it really didn’t matter what I said on air so long as Israel are the good guys and I am finding it really hard and annoying to manage to find things that makes Israel look like the good guys while committing genocide in Gaza, sigh.

What prevents Hamas hiding behind people waving white flag? And what do you think should happen when Hamas shooting rockets (to civilian centers, by the way, specifically targeting cities without ANY military value) when they do it on purpose from civilian objects? Hamas using civilian objects like hospital, schools etc. is well established fact.

As for percentage, take for example Iraq War. Per Wikipedia about 20K insurgence were killed, the civilian casualties, however are in hundreds of thousands. And those insurgence did not specifically use human shield. So, was it genocide too?

I see no reason for people applying double standards to Israel other than banal antisemitism. And, I personally put the blame for civilian deaths in this war squarely on Hamas. They started this war, planned this situation, specifically knowing that what will likely happen next and were prepared for this and continue using the civilian shields.

When you mix religion with nationalism and antisemitism you get dangerous mixture of people ready to go to haven by killing infidels and ready to scarifies civilians for the same reasons. There is no way for Israel and Palestinian people to live in piece with organization like Hamas present, whose declared goal IS genocide of Israel.

For the record I was against the Iraq war. And what Hamas did in Oct was horrible , but Israel has killed 20x what Hamas did . Israel’s response should beore targeted , not destroying all of Gaza and stopping supplies from getting into Gaza that could help the innocent people who are currently starving in Gaza .

Maybe netanyahu should have thought about that before he pushed them to take over from fatah. I mean he knew even back then what he was getting. This is what netanyahu wants. So while it would be awesome if Hamas and especially Israel stopped killing civilians. The onus is on Israel and netanyahu.

It isn’t a war, you can’t consider this a war when one side utterly controls all of the infrastructure including water, electricity, internet and the ability of aid to reach the other side while ALSO having one of the most advanced militaries in the world and the other side has… tunnels and shitty rockets?

This is genocide, not war, it is frankly absurd to frame this like a war instead of a mass scale societal punishment for a terrorist attack by a small subset of that population and also an attempt to wipe Palestinians off the map so settlers can take their land.

This was apparently an apartment building a Belgian group was using until they evacuated. Hamas could have started using it since the war started, or Israel thought they were, or it even could have been an accident. All way more plausible than singling out a Belgium aid group for a revenge bombing.

It wasn’t labelled as “revenge for funding the UNRWA”, what was stated was:

The Israeli assault has taken place after the Belgian Government announced not to suspend funding for the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) on Wednesday.

It’s merely an order of events, you’re the one labelling it “revenge”.

Furthermore, this order of events lines up with the Reuters artcile, which says:

It was not clear when the building was bombed. The spokesperson said Belgium had found out about it on Thursday evening and suspected it had happened on Wednesday.

So it would be right to point out that the Turkish source paints the timeline as a certainty when it is not certain, but if anything the Reuters article is perhaps a little too cautious in not pointing out the possibility that it was done shortly after the Belgian announcement regarding UNRWA, or even mentioning that announcement at all.
