Archive can be spotty depending on factors I’m not completely aware of. It didn’t work at all on my Windows PC but works fine on my android phone and Linux laptop. I am not a skilled enough tech person to figure out how why Windows won’t play nice with archive.

archive. * sabotages some DNS servers (specifically, ones not supporting the optional EDNS specification, more specifically the part that will forward your IP address through a chain of DNS servers). Some ISPs don’t support this, and Cloudflare’s DNS doesn’t support it. This is done because the guy behind archive.* uses this optional DNS feature to direct you to the closest server instead of using a better way of doing load balancing, and without this optional data he configured the thing to just redirect to some random Cloudflare host (at least last time I checked).

If this is the problem for you, switching to another DNS provider should fix it. Of use archive.org, that doesn’t sabotage its connections this way.
