Teddy Roosevelt: Shot. Told the crowd not to kill his assassin. Delivered his entire 50 minute speech, from start to finish.

Schrank’s bullet lodged in Roosevelt’s chest after penetrating Roosevelt’s steel eyeglass case and passing through a 50 page thick (single-folded) copy of his speech titled “Progressive Cause Greater Than Any Individual”, which he was carrying in his jacket pocket.

Roosevelt, as an experienced hunter and anatomist, correctly concluded that since he was not coughing blood, the bullet had not reached his lung, and he declined suggestions to go to the hospital immediately. Instead, he delivered his scheduled speech with blood seeping into his shirt. He spoke for 50 minutes before completing his speech and accepting medical attention. His opening comments to the gathered crowd were, “Ladies and gentlemen, I don’t know whether you fully understand that I have just been shot, but it takes more than that to kill a Bull Moose.”

Trump: Injured by teleprompter. Claimed victory. Carried off stage.

“It takes more than that to kill a bull moose,” the wounded candidate assured them. He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a bullet-riddled, 50-page speech. Holding up his prepared remarks, which had two big holes blown through each page, Roosevelt continued. “Fortunately I had my manuscript, so you see I was going to make a long speech, and there is a bullet—there is where the bullet went through—and it probably saved me from it going into my heart. The bullet is in me now, so I cannot make a very long speech, but I will try my best.”

Just because it wasn’t them doesn’t me they don’t want him dead. Trump’s greedy blundering caused the deaths of a lot of US agents.

So important that the memes get on top of this story and double down on this specific hypocrisy. Optically, this tragedy is perfect for the RNC to the point it could almost be staged except for the glaring weak spot that Republicans believe that the person who did this had every right to own a firearm. The memes need to absolutely rail at that chink im the armor and pretty much nothing else, otherwise this is nothing more than gained footing for MAGA.

Well, this event will definitely be exploited by Trump’s team and he will be strengthened. Just like happened with Bolsonaro and the stab.

Unfortunately I think Trump will be reelected.

Or we get a bunch of copycats.

Biden gets shot. Trump gets shot.

Future debate, Trump brags about how he got assassination attempts and Biden goes “No way Jose, I got assassination attempts too, bucko.”

      What a timeline.

We really should ignore all the election politics and make this all about gun control. Paint Trump as a victim of the Second Amendment. Make it a whole sob story about how our democracy is under attack by guns.

Trump enacted some of the first gun control since the assault weapons ban. I’m pretty sure he said something like take their guns first then justify it latter during the summer of unrest.

He’ll do whatever, he’s got the morals of an alley cat

Obama passed a lot of smaller things. Trump just kinda saw that people were angry after the las vegas shooting and banned bump stops using an executive order (which was later overturned)

Not to sound like a Russian bot, but sometimes I wonder if Putin actually is the most powerful mf on this planet. The US is too big for him to fight head on, but he’s really found a way to cut us deeply and repeatedly to the point where it’s a real possibility that he will destroy and own this country.

I’m honestly convinced in a very defeatist way that this will cement any uncertainty of his canadicty on the right and win him the election this year because of it.

I can picture it now “Nobody ever tries to kill the bad guy, look at history MLK jr, Kennedy, Lincoln, Roosevelt and Hitl- history all looks upon the vile left and shames them for trying to engineer such things.”

In Brazil, during the 2018 election, Bolsonaro’s team got advice from Steve Bannon. Bolsonaro was stabbed during his campaign which many say hugely bolstered his numbers.

Now this? I know Bannon is in prison but the whole Cambridge Analytica thing and the manipulation of public & individual opinion… the connections with Roger Stone… the whole QAnon crap… project 2025… it’s just all so fucking weird.

The truth is more like it looks. No need for a conspiracy. Vile orange man who spews hatred and violence and preaches senseless retribution is shot at in a fascist rally in a country where guns are sacred.

As I said, no need for a conspiracy, all the necessary ingredients are at hand.
