Aren’t mods in BG3 closed alpha or something?
How good is the average mod quality in this game?
Well it’s not like a Skyrim (obviously), but I mean that there isn’t big changes in textures or content for example.
There is some extremely useful mods though. I’m thinking quality of life stuff and appearance choices mostly. The latter was a bit buggy with the updates for me, but i think it got better now.
I think the amount of downloads comes from how necessary these are to most fans, rather than the quantity and quality of big mods.
(Although some small mods like hairstyle are quite high quality to be fair)
Could you elaborate on why most fans consider some mods necessary. Ive put over 300h into this game and did not feel like mods would have enriched the experience once
Most mods add quality of life things.
If you check those out, I can guarantee you you will find some where you wonder why they aren’t in the base game.
Most mods arent necessary, but there are mods that allow you to play with spells that arent in the base game, level up past 12, and add races that arent in base. Those are the ones I have
It’s almost a year since I played BG3 but back then I remember some bugfix mods were essential (BG3 had a LOT of bugs/improperly working things back then), and then the really big one for me was the camera mod, Native Camera Tweaks. That one alone has over a million downloads and fixes a lot of issues I had.
And this is without the official modding kit released? Wow
If you like Witcher 3, is BG for you?
I would think so.
If you liked it for the story, bg3 definitively will not disappoint in that regard.
The gameplay is pretty different though, less action, more strategic… It’s not to everyone’s taste, but still worth trying regardless i think.
From what i understand, BG is more like Kenshi in controls?
In terms of control yes, but it also depend if you use a keyboard or a controller.
It’s pretty well adapted for controller and if you use one then your movement is like any third person game, like the Witcher.
While keyboard has that point to move like Kenshi. Note that there is a mod to switch to the controller movement using wasd.
So if you wish you can move like the Witcher, the gameplay though is strategy turn based, like xcom or gear tactics, so nothing to do with it.
BG3 is a much better game than the Witcher 3.
Never really got into the Witcher 3, the combat is slow and there are like 5 spells that all are the same with a slightly different colour. And the amount of fanboys jerkin it to anything Project Red afterwards made me actively despise it.
TW3 is less about the gameplay and more about the world, quests and storyline
