I just got permanently banned from Reddit for literally nothing. No vitriolic comments. Nothing was modded. I have no other accounts.

The only thing I can think of is that I use a VPN. That’s it.

I was banned site wide for 3 days because I linked to a South Park bit about Harley riders being obnoxiously loud, all because I labeled the hyperlink as “f@gs” (without the @, in case Lemmy has a similar auto mod).

I was perma-banned from Trashy because I posted a link to the Stupid Spoiled Whore Playset bit from South Park on a post about those toddler beauty pageants.

It seems the mods don’t like South Park 😂

Out of curiosity, how many reddit accounts have you had and were you reprimanded on them? It looks like they’ve just sussed out your other accounts.

I would guess maybe that’s what’s causing the issue for you then. If a bunch of bots were doing something using that IP address you may have just got caught up in that. I don’t know how much help reddit’s customer service would be if if there even is an outlet to dispute it, but maybe somewhere in the notice page you’ll find a way to ask for human review.

I’m also using a vpn sometimes so this really gets me scared. Is there any way we can backup our reddit account?( written and saved posts, comments etc)

    Ever defended Palestine on Reddit?

IDF trolls report comments enmasse and some biased mod might just click permaban without even going to read the comments.

That’s how I got banned anyway. I did not insult or disparage Jewish people, simply criticised Israel for what it’s doing.

You know who insulting and disparaging does get you banned? Nazis. Yeah they really hate if you go after Nazis on Reddit. It’s kind of ironic.

I do. I very much do. IDF trolls aren’t a conspiracy or anything, they understand the necessity of having people astroturfing their views and opinions. And the people who are on the side of Israel will perpetuate the things those trolls push.

So when you make a decisively good comment that’s hard to counter with the basic bullshit “whatabout” and “human. shields” bs rhetoric, then you’ll basically get mass reported for “hatred” or something.

I really tried holding a neutral tone, and did, just kept being insistent on calling out people straight up defending genocide.

        Permabanned.

Yeah, but when you get reported for breaking actual Reddit tos (like hatred or smth=instead of just subreddit rules, some actual mod/admin will be able to see it, no?

And idk how they see the situation, but if they see a mass of reports for hate for dozens of comments, I’m assuming the admins can’t be arsed to really read the conversations properly.

Yeah I’m not sure. I reported some things and it should have gone to the mods, but somehow the admins saw it and acted on it. Agree mods and admins won’t read things properly, I’ve had things removed because I quoted the previous person and they thought I was the one saying it.

Yeah exactly this sort of callousness from them is what I mean.

So if there’s even a bit of a confrontational tone in the comment and it has dozens of reports, they just click “ban” and don’t give a fuck.

I was banned a few months ago for “breaking the rules” my brother in Christ I only ever posted about 3D printing and networking hardware, how is that even remotely possible?

I did use a VPN. They give zero fucks.
