Trump said recently Nov. 5th, 2024 will be, “THE MOST IMPORTANT DAY IN THE HISTORY OF AMERICA”. He can’t be referring to people voting for him, right? He specifically requested they stay home on election day.

This statement was posted by Trump on his website on 10/13/21, though I cannot find it anymore as they kept changing the URL, but now it seems they may have removed it altogether. You can still find references to it on other platforms if you search for the date and contents (e.g., the Washington Post).

EDIT: Found courtesy of the Wayback Machine (at least the internet never forgets).

NOTE: I posted this in !lemmyshitpost@lemmy.world, but it was taken down. I think someone should change their sidebar so it doesn’t specifically say, “anything and everything goes”, but whatevs. Someone commented on that post before it was taken down that it was a ‘clickbait’ title. It is not, it is literally what Trump said.

While we can all agree Trump is an ass, I think you’ve misunderstood this statement.

He’s not saying “it’s important that republicans don’t vote if we fail to solve the election fraud”, he’s saying “it’s important to solve the fraud, because otherwise next time republicans won’t be allowed to vote”.

He’s claiming that republican votes won’t be counted, or that they won’t be allowed to place a vote at all, because the democrats will have rigged the system and/or deprived them of the right to vote

“If we don’t solve the fraud, Republican voters votes will not be counted. Solving the fraud is therefore the most important thing for Republican politicians to address”

Is this what your saying he said? Trying to decipher his dementia is quite a task.

But since it is worded so poorly, you can just as easily assume the other interpretation is correct as well, e.g., it’s ‘the most important thing’ because not voting will ‘send a message’ that Republicans refuse to participate in a ‘broken election system’. He also said ‘will not be voting’ instead of potentially making the message clearer with different wording like ‘will not be able to vote’, so that makes not voting sound like an intentional choice Republicans should make.

I admit my reading comprehension could be off, but that is about the dumbest, most confusing way to word a statement that is so potentially contentious. My interpretation was that he said if the ‘election fraud’ is not ‘resolved’, Republicans won’t bother voting because they will assume it is rigged. The ‘election fraud’ has not been ‘resolved’ (because there never was any), hence, Republicans should stay home.

Have you only just started listening to what Trump says? :p

That does make more sense, and I’ll even give it to Donnie this is what he meant. But as usual, his communiques are not clearly articulated.
