For those unware of what Atlas OS is; It aims to be an optimized modification of Windows, designed for gamers. Designed to maximize performance, minimize latency, higher framerates and lower latency compared to stock windows.

So curious if anyone here has tried this and could share their experiences! Considering putting this on a friends computer.

Not sure what kind of experiences you’re looking for but Ive been running it for a few weeks because Im only using my Windows machine for gaming and thought this would be a better fit.

It feels noticeably faster than regular Windows which is not just due to disabled animations. It somehow just IS a bit faster. You also won’t have the same driver issues and endless fiddling as with Linux. I quite like it overall.

Good to hear, am assuming the lack of overhead from stock windows helps the performance and snappiness.

Don’t use these alternative Windows versions. If you wanna use something other than MS Windows, use Linux.

i shudder to think about all The Malware infested “gaming” workstations that will be added to the repertoire of botnets and malicious actors because of this.

at this point just use linux or better yet complain loudly and publicly to microsoft for enshittifying windows

Tbf, most of what you just mentioned are all optional. I do like the tool from Chris though, but believe Atlas achieves more.

Delusional, virus-bait, dating stealing nonsense, incredibly unsafe for any average person to use.

Learn to declutter windows and you’ll see not only better performance but also not putting everything on your PC at risk.

It’s a monumentally stupid idea to run this. Minor performance gains, at a cost of crippling an already insecure operating system

It is what it says, a stripped down gaming focused windows. I wouldn’t recommend using it for day to day computing, but it works fine as a secondary OS to only install steam and play games.

I use enterprise windows versions (LTSC), they come debloated and you can re-enable windows store and xbox with a script. Everything runs great and it’s official, some of the best things are unofficial but in this case I have no opinion on Atlas.
